WHO: PEOPLE PASSIONATE ABOUT MISSIONS LOCALLY & INTERNATIONALLY
A Christian missionary is an ambassador of Christ, commissioned to make disciples of Christ using every available means and opportunity. The vision of the ROVC Missions Ministry is to inspire vision and participation in both local and international mission projects. Our passion is to make a difference not only in the city of Calgary, but around the world. ROVC supports our own missionaries and missions projects. We also partner with Victory Churches International in more than 20 nations around the world, including orphanages, safe houses for children exploited in the sex industry, Bible schools, church planting, and other outreach projects. We desire that everyone finds a place to use their talents, gifts and passions in spreading the message of Christ.
Richard & Ning have been missionaries in the Philippines for over 30 years. Having spent 15 years planting churches in the remote villages , God led them to start a church in Manila in September of 2003. Immediately they saw explosive growth! Victory Churches of Asia (Fairview Branch), the church they started & still pastor today, has grown to over 2500 people. In the same time period they saw the 6 small churches they had previously planted grow into 27 churches nation wide. Several Christian schools, feeding & education programs for the poor, relief work & numerous other ministries have been started & continue to expand as a result. In the past 5 years they have begun to see some dramatic miracles in the area of healing.
For over a decade we have advanced the cause of missions with Victory Asia, now influencing ten nations. From our home base in Sriracha, Thailand our aim is simply “building people that build people” through the vision of Reach, Teach & Mobilize. Our life consists of overseeing ministry operations, pastoring a church and growing a children’s nursery, all fuelled by the delicious foods Asia provides… oh yeah… we ride elephants. The support of ROVC and our amazing leadership team makes this all possible. Together we are living life on purpose and promoting Jesus.
Dean and Sue are currently serving in Phnom Penh, Cambodia with Asian Hope Ministries. They are teaching at Logos International Christian School. Dean teaches High School Bible and Sue teaches Grade One. Our students largely come from Cambodian Buddhist families but many of them come to Christ during their time at the school. Cambodia desperately needs educated Christian leaders to lead a growing church and the country in general. Please pray for them as they live and serve in Cambodia.
Shawn & Karen Tomlinson have served with Power to Change ministries at the U of C for the past 19 years , helping International students explore life's greatest questions and experience a rich welcome to Canada through practically connecting them with various programs that will help them bridge into Canadian society. It has been a passion of theirs to share their lives both as Canadians and Christians with the 120 nations plus that congregate at the U of C for Master and Phd programs and inviting many others to enter into the joy by doing the same. Shawn has co-founded the friendship program called Home Away from Home, which seeks to help Intl students develop meaningful friends with Canadian Families.

In 2014 the dream became a reality when he moved to Thailand to work with Victory Asia and the Victory Asia Bible College. In Thailand, Tyler handles administration for the college, teaches course and English, and mentors students as they are trained up in the ministry.
Hello, my name is Lana Klassen, I’ve been attending Royal Oak Victory Church for about 10 years. I have felt called to missions for a long time but it wasn’t until a visiting missionary spoke about Thailand in our church that I felt called to any one place. Upon hearing about the spiritual climate, human trafficking and about the child sex industry, God starting speaking to my heart. After sharing this with a friend she introduced me to Matt and Becky Watson, who are missionaries there. Through that visit I was encouraged to enrol in VABC for one year. This gave me the chance to go to Thailand and experience the culture and the ministry first hand. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I was exactly where God wanted me. Having attended VABC this past year, I spent 8 months learning how God has planed, purposed and gifted me and using those gifts has brought me to new levels of confidence and understanding and deeper places of trust and faith. This is why I am joining the ministry team in Asia, I believe that it is the next step in my walk with God; to step into the great commission, to reach, teach and mobilize the people of Thailand, to show them the love of God and the hope that he brings.
